Stop human trafficking
Everyone advertising here must be an adult acting by their own choice. Here is how we enforce that, and how to raise a concern.
Where we stand
Massage List Africa exists for adults who advertise their own time, by their own choice. Human trafficking, forced or coerced work, and any listing involving a child are the opposite of that, and they have no place here.
This is not a policy we treat as paperwork. A trafficking report is the highest priority thing that reaches our moderation queue, ahead of every other kind of report.
What we do about it
- Every advertiser must confirm they are 18 or over and advertising themselves.
- Listings are moderated before they go live, and photos are checked against other listings and other sites.
- Verification matches a live video to the profile photos, which makes it far harder to advertise someone else.
- Anyone can report a profile, without an account and without giving their name.
- Reported listings are suspended while we look into them, not after.
- We cooperate with the police and with national anti-trafficking agencies, and we retain what we hold so it can be handed over.
Signs worth paying attention to
Most of what people notice comes from a message thread or a meeting rather than from the listing itself. Any one of these can have an innocent explanation. Several together are worth reporting.
- Someone else always answers the messages, or answers on the person’s behalf when you meet.
- The person seems monitored, scripted, or is never alone.
- They look younger than the age stated, or are vague about their age.
- They do not seem to know where they are, or cannot say how long they have been there.
- Signs of fear, injury, or of being unable to leave, hand over their own phone, or hold their own documents.
- The same photos appear across many listings under different names, ages or cities.
- Payment goes to someone other than the person you are meeting.
How to report
If you believe someone is in immediate danger, contact your local police first. They can act in a way that we cannot.
Then tell us. Use the report button on the listing, or the contact page, and include the profile link along with anything you noticed. You do not need to be certain and you do not need to give your name. We would far rather look into a report that turns out to be nothing.
If you are being controlled or coerced yourself and it is safe for you to write to us, we will take the listing down without asking you for anything in return.
Getting help
Each country we cover has a national anti-trafficking agency and a police unit that handles these cases, and there are non-government organisations that support survivors confidentially. If you are not sure who to approach, contact us and we will point you to the right body for your country.
For advertisers
If someone is pressuring you to advertise, taking your earnings, holding your documents, or controlling who you see, that is trafficking under the law in every country we operate in, whatever they call it and whatever you agreed to at the start. Nothing you have done makes it your fault, and reporting it does not put your listing at risk.
